A Message from Danny
Rowe
Danny Rowe for State Representative – District
81
I invite the support of all District 81 voters. I hope you will
review my qualifications and positive thoughts on government before
you make your decision on choosing a new State Representative for
Mountain Home, Gassville, Cotter, Lakeview, Midway, and rural areas
surrounding these towns. The General Election date is November
4, 2008.
I am a conservative and am on the Democratic ticket. I am not
a career politician. Rather, I am running because of my passion
to improve the lives of Arkansans.
I offer you, citizens of Baxter County, an advantage of being
a Democrat in the Arkansas legislature. As you know, times now
are hard and getting harder. A vote for me will give our district
the support of three-fourths of the House of Representatives who
are Democrats, and our governor, Democrat Mike Beebe. My opponents
can offer you nothing like this. One is a member of the minority
party, the other is an Independent.
I have lived in Mountain Home 35 years. I’m a 1980 graduate
of Mountain Home High School and have owned my own businesses for
more than 20 years. Before that, I was with Commonwealth Theaters
as a manager in Rolla, Mo., Springdale, and Batesville. I have
owned Randy’s Shipping since 1985 and Creative Paint and
Carpet since 1988. I’m a licensed home builder and also own
Rowe Properties.
Missy and I have been married since 1990 and
have two beautiful daughters, ages 14 and nine. I’m a member
of First Baptist Church and the Elks Lodge.
Following are some of my ideas about issues of importance to our
state.
Conservative Ideals
- My
conservative ideals will apply across the board in all aspects
of legislative service.
Reducing Taxes
- Sales tax on food should be eliminated,
as Gov. Mike Beebe proposes. It is an unfair tax on lower income
citizens, and the state will not suffer revenue loss from it
because of sales tax restructuring.
The Global Economy
- We are the generation that will see the economy totally
globalized. It is historic. Our economic success will come through
education, stable communities, and support for the positive development
of families and individuals. A people who are happier are more
productive, and that will give us a competitive advantage.
Children’s Safety
- Arkansas’s statute of limitations on rape, which
is now seven years, should be eliminated to benefit children.
The statute of limitations is too short a period of time when
victims are very young at the time of the crime.
Reducing Crime
- I will work to reduce overall crime and drug abuse.
- I will work to prevent child abuse.
- I call for hard sentencing of abusers.
Informed on Mental Health Issues
- The issue of mental health is important
to me. I became involved in serving the needs of the mentally
ill several years ago while helping a relative. It was life-changing
for me. I began volunteering in suicide prevention as well as
the prevention of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse.
- I believe good mental health services are essential
to the successful functioning of communities. I know the programs
that are available to help people and know how they are working.
Mental health has more of an affect on people than they realize.
- I completed the Stewardship for Children program online
and also am a participating member of Darkness to Light, and
the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
Thank you for considering my candidacy. I hope to meet you during
this important time.
I welcome any questions or comments. You may visit me at my businesses
or call me (425-3535) for a one on one discussion or to arrange
a group engagement.
Please watch for:
October 6 – Deadline to register to vote in the General Election.
October 20 - Early Voting begins leading up to the General Election
Nov. 4, 2008.
